District 201N3, New South Wales, Australia

Welcome to the Lions Club of Munmorah Summerland Point Inc.

Our Club was chartered on 14 April 2008 and is situated on the Central Coast of NSW, approximately halfway between Sydney and Newcastle.

The cover photo was a visit from a previous District Governor and his wife, Past District Governor Noelene.  It was a most enjoyable evening and lots of happy people.

We are a relatively small club in numbers, 15 in all,  but we are very close in friendship. We have one lady Lion who is now 98 years of age and is driven to our dinner meetings by one of our stalwarts.  We lost two of our dear members in the past year. Death comes when you least expect it.

The months of January to December2016 saw our Lions working a BBQ at a local Bunnings. All our Lions chipped in and worked for a few hours. Not a super busy spot but handy to raise a few dollars for our activities account. We are fortunate to have a fine BBQ Chairman, Lion Peter.

We made a considerable donation to support a Grammar school in our area, students and teachers, who went on a service mission to a small remote village in Mayanmar.  They have returned  and they constructed six toilets providing clean and hygienic facilities for around 30 families, new housing for a disabled woman and her small child and repairs to four other homes for needy families. They also undertook some computer training and distributed over 100kg of clothing, dental products, reading glasses and sporting equipment.

This month we have also dug deep and sent of a donation from our club's members to the Bushfire Relief Appeal.

Also a donation to assist The Lions Deaf Camp being held in May 2017 at Point Wolstoncroft..

Lion Errol and his team are hard at work along Kanagra Drive. Partner Barbara is a tireless worker for Community Garden and educating the children in horticulture.

Margaret is a busy lady collecting cans to raise funds to provide wheelchairs for disabled children.

Lions working in aged care; teaching at school; keeping a business running; busy with family;  raising children, all busy in their own lives.

Children's handmades now go to Kaleidoscope Kids, a charity with connections to John Hunter Children's Hospital, women's refuges, children in need, Sexual assault victims, nursing homes and various others..

The members in this Lions Club have a combined total of  198 years of service volunteering.

Ordinary people doing extraordinary things - supporting people with a disability, community greening, fundraising for worthwhile causes.
