Welcome to the Lions Club of Munmorah Summerland PointOur Club was chartered on 14 April 2008 and is situated on the Central Coast of NSW, approximately halfway between Sydney and Newcastle. Christmas festivities over with, we gathered for a pool party at Lion Doreen's home. We did have a lovely hot day and we had some extra visitors from Brisbane as well. January has been and gone and we had our first Dinner Meeting for the year at Budgewoi Soccer Club on the 7th February. A good roll up and a prospective new member who subsequently decided to join our Club. Carol Fitzjohn will be inducted by Lion Neville at our Dinner Meeting on 6th March. We have also invited another lady, Claire Muir along to this meeting. She has responded to the Television advertising by Lions Head Office, Newcastle. We had two fine days selling our Lucky Envelopes in February at Lake Haven shopping centre. We caught up with a lot of our regular customers. Some not doing so well. Things continue to move along with a regular pace which we are happy with. Most of us are busy with family, work and the good old health problems. Lion Phil has just sent off another 250 pairs of spectacles for recycling. He definitely has an eye for his job. After a visit from Karen Pierpoint at the recent Zone Meeting, our members have agreed to donate $500.00 to enable Abbie at Blue Haven to be fitted with a walker. This walker for Abbie should be ready for Christmas. Dresses for the little girls in East Timor at The Sister of St. Joseph Hospital/Orphanage, total 105 with 12 pyjamas and 10 bags. These were delivered to Sister Noreen at St. Marys last week in time for the shipment on 28th Febraury. Sister Noreen said the children will be very excited with these new dresses. Today, Marge, June and Noelene visited Vietnam Veterans Village and helped the residents with their craft etc. A bit of chat going on too. The members in this Lions Club have a combined total of 199 years of service volunteering. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things - supporting people with a disability, community greening, fundraising for worthwhile causes.
